Friends Pop Up Book Sale

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library will be hosting a pop up book sale outdoors near the children’s garden every Friday in October from 12 PM to 4:30 PM (weather permitting). They will have “mystery bags” of books available for everyone. Bags will be identified by category: mysteries, picture books, beach reads, etc. There will be at least 5 books in each bag.

The Friends are making the sale as contactless as possible:

  • The books are taken from donations made before the pandemic and placed in sealed bags.

  • Bags cannot be opened and handled.

  • The bags are not priced. Patrons are encouraged to make a goodwill cash donation. However, this is not required and if you are not in a position to donate, you may still take a bag.

  • We will accept checks or cash. There will be a receptacle in which to put your cash donation in. Please note that the Friends helping out at the table cannot handle the money.

  • The library is not accepting book/media donations at this time. Please DO NOT bring book/media donations to this sale.

Phase 3 Services

Masks must cover nose and mouth at all times while in the building. Patrons will also be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering.  Social distancing protocols are required.

Your patience with our adjustments to this ever changing situation is GREATLY appreciated!

Automatic Renewals

Did you know most items checked out from the library will be automatically renewed?  Check out this FAQ sheet for more information.

Most items checked out from the Georgetown Peabody Library will automatically renew if they have not been returned three days before their due date. Patrons will no longer have to take any steps to renew items in their possession, even if the items came from a library in Georgetown’s network of libraries.

Items that cannot be renewed include: items on waiting lists, items that have reached their renewal limit, items borrowed from outside the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium and items checked out from a nonparticipating library.

Museum Passes Pickup

You can now request library museum passes for contactless pickup. Library staff will be wearing masks when they prepare your pass as well as when they place it outside for you to pick up. Coupon passes will be placed in small paper bags. Returnable museum passes are in plastic DVD covers.

Please note, many museums have additional instructions on admission into their buildings. Please visit their websites for details. Some museums we offer discounted passes to are not yet open or may have temporarily suspended their library pass program.

How to Reserve a Museum Pass

Step 1: Reserve the pass you want for the day you want to go on the Library’s Museum Passes page

Step 2: Wait for the confirmation that your request is approved.

Step 3: Come to the library and call us when you are here for pickup of the library pass. Please wear a face covering when you come.

Step 4: Enjoy!

Step 5: For returnable passes, please return the pass to the book drop within 24- 48 hours.

Please note:

  • For health and safety reasons, we are not able to welcome patrons into the building at this time. All returnable items should go in our book drops which remain open 24/7.
