Friends of the Library
Every donor is a Friend of the Library
Everyone who donates to the Georgetown Peabody Library, in any amount, is a Friend of the Library. As a Friend, you’re helping the library continue to offer a creative range of programs and services it couldn’t otherwise provide. Your support helps make our town’s library a strong and vital resource for all.
It’s easy to donate online and become a Friend!
See below for more ways to donate.
The Friends’ Mission: The Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to support and enhance the resources and services of the library; promote engagement in the library’s programs and services; raise funds to support and supplement library resources, technology, and programs not funded by public sources; and encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library.
You can amplify your support by attending the Friends Annual Meeting and volunteering (details below). If you have any questions or would like to get involved with the Friends, please send an email to friends@georgetownpl.org
Ways to Donate
- Donate online to our Annual Appeal through Zeffy, our contribution platform. Please note: Any additional contribution to the free Zeffy platform is entirely optional. See details online.
- Donate with a check, making the check payable to Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library. You can drop your check off at the library or mail it to: Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library, 2 Maple Street, Georgetown, MA 01833.
- If you’d like to make a memorial gift or a gift of non-collection/non-financial items, please reach out to the Library Director to discuss.
Every donor who supports the library at any level is a Friend of the Library for the calendar year in which the donation was made (and/or for the following calendar year if the gift is made late in the year).
What programs are supported by the Friends?
On an annual basis, donations to the library — with guidance from the Friends’ Board of Directors — provide a dependable source of support for most of the library’s events and programs, including:
- Free and reduced-admission museum passes
- Educational and cultural programs for children, teens, and adults, from crafts and yoga classes to play group toys and music concerts
- Summer Reading Programs for adults, teens, and kids
In addition to supporting these programs, Friends volunteers undertake a variety of responsibilities and targeted efforts to help the library, including:
- Conducting the much-loved community book sales (usually in the spring and the fall) and maintaining the year-round Book Nook (get sale-priced books any time of year!)
- Maintaining the library’s gardens
- Raising funds through events and appeals for special one-time projects, such as the library’s StoryWalk® and the custom bookshelves in the lobby.
