Going on a Bear Hunt

Bruce the Bear will be hiding in the library this summer from July 5 – August 12.  He will move every Monday to a new hiding place.  Come on in and hunt for Bruce.  Once you have found him, leave Bruce in his hiding place and come to the Children’s Room Desk to fill out a raffle ticket.  One ticket per week. 

Kick Off Summer with Henry the Juggle

Wednesday, June 29 at 6:30 PM on the library lawn.  Bring something to sit on and enjoy.

Henry the Juggler (alias Henry Lappen) is considered armed (and legged) and dangerous. He is known to cause spontaneous outbursts of laughter. He speaks little, but says a great deal through his expression and body language (and road signs!). He has in his possession BALLS, CLUBS, RINGS, TORCHES and other apparatus of his trade. He is capable of walking on a thin wire high above the ground. He is known to change his height through the use of stilts.

Henry involves innocent bystanders in his act.

Chess Club

Students in 3rd – 6th grade are invited to sign up for an oportunity to play chess with others.  Wednesday, May 11 from 4:00-5:00 and Wednesday May 25 from 6:30 – 7:30 in the library meeting room.

Chess Club at the library will be an informal gathering of students interested in playing chess with others.  Students in 3rd – 6th grade are invited to sign up.  The chess boards and pieces will be provided.  Masks will be required.  No instruction will be avaialble at this event, but may be offered in the future.

Registration is required for each event.  Go to the events calendar and select the date.

Beginner Book Club

Monday, May 23 at 4:00.  Students in kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to participate in a Beginner’s Book Club at the library.   The book will be provided and read together (independent reading skills are not required).  Join us for a book discussion and questions, along with jokes, riddles, and a craft! Space is limited and registration is required.

Masks are optional.

Peeps Diorama Contest

With a shoebox and some Peeps you can recreate your favorite book, movie, or make up your own fun scene!
 
Materials will be available to pick up starting on Tuesday, April 19. Kids, teens, adults and families are invited to participate.
 
Deadline to submit is Friday, April 29. Judging will be done in 3 categories: grades K-5, grades 6-12, and family/adult.
