StoryWalk® Celebration – Saturday, May 6 at 10AM

Join us as we celebrate the opening of the permanent StoryWalk® with some brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, a chance to meet four local children’s authors (Maggie van Galen, Paul Janson, Dyan deNapoli, and Donna Seim), and the opportunity to travel the new StoryWalk® path.

The Friends will be offering some light refreshments during this celebration. This event will take place rain or shine!

We want to thank all those who helped the Friends of the Library to fund this great resource!

Library Benches Commemoration – Saturday, September 25 at 10AM

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library will be hosting a short ceremony for the new library benches on Saturday, September 25 at 10AM on the library lawn.

Mass Audubon Pass

The Library has a new pass for patrons to enjoy! The Mass Audubon pass admits 1 vehicle OR up to 4 people to a Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary. At some sanctuaries there is a $2 admission fee per visitor over the age of 2.

This pass was purchased by the Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library to honor the memory of Chris Christiansen, husband of Friends board member Amy Smith. Chris was a dedicated walker and loved hiking in Mass Audubon parks and reserves. We hope you enjoy them, too.

Passes can be reserved online or by calling the library at 978-352-5728.

Friends Pop Up Book Sale

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library will be hosting a pop up book sale outdoors near the children’s garden every Friday in October from 12 PM to 4:30 PM (weather permitting). They will have “mystery bags” of books available for everyone. Bags will be identified by category: mysteries, picture books, beach reads, etc. There will be at least 5 books in each bag.

The Friends are making the sale as contactless as possible:

  • The books are taken from donations made before the pandemic and placed in sealed bags.

  • Bags cannot be opened and handled.

  • The bags are not priced. Patrons are encouraged to make a goodwill cash donation. However, this is not required and if you are not in a position to donate, you may still take a bag.

  • We will accept checks or cash. There will be a receptacle in which to put your cash donation in. Please note that the Friends helping out at the table cannot handle the money.

  • The library is not accepting book/media donations at this time. Please DO NOT bring book/media donations to this sale.
