Volunteer Opportunities

Need community service hours? The Library has ongoing volunteer opportunities throughout the year. For further information, please view our Volunteer Policy.  To be considered, please fill out a Volunteer Application Form and present it to staff.

Please keep in mind that volunteers under the age of 18 must have parental approval and cannot work more than two (2) hours per day.

Community Outreach

The Teen Librarian is available to share information about the library, reading and information literacy with students in grades 6-12.  (For younger students, please contact the Children’s Librarian, Cathy DeWitt.)  Please request any outreach events at least two weeks in advance.

Some of the programs we offer include:

Website/Research Introduction: We teach students to navigate the library website, focusing on online databases, the library catalog and teen resources.

Summer Reading Assemblies or Classroom visits: Reading during summer break helps teens keep their skills fresh. Let us get teens fired up about reading all summer long as we explain the Library’s Summer Reading Program.

A Librarian is also available for: Family Nights, Literacy Events, Career Days, College Fairs and other school events.  We can staff an information table or create a custom presentation to fit your needs.  Please email Savannah Barmore for more information.
