October Local Authors’ Event

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library October authors’ event takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the Library community room. The Friends are pleased to host two local authors of children’s books for the ongoing local authors’ program. Paul Janson and Maggie van Galen will be discussing their books and writing process. There will also be Q&A, book signing, and books for sale.

Family Movie Night @ the Library

Family Movie Night on Monday Oct 15th, Starts at 6pm

Come see “The Lorax” on the library’s big screen. Dr. Suess': The Lorax.

Monday October 15th starting at 6pm. No need to register just drop in for a great time. Children can bring pillows to lay down on the floor during the movie. Bring your own Popcorn if you would like a snack! This movie is rated G and is 77 minutes long. Parents or guardians should stay in the library in case of an emergency.

Rather than carving jack-o’-lanterns this Halloween, break with tradition and paint your pumpkins instead. We will provide the paint, decorations, and various accessories to design your own Jack-o’-Lantern. September local authors’ event

On Wednesday, September 26, the Friends are pleased to host Diane Lyon, a former Georgetown resident who has written a book, The Last Stop Before Heaven, about growing up in this area. Please join us in the Community room at 7:00 pm for discussion, Q&A, and book signing.

Silk Painting Class Oct 1&2-CANCELLED

This program has been CANCELLED- The library will be hosting a free silk painting class on Monday and Tuesday October 1 and 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Library Meeting Room. This popular class is being taught by our own Sandra Golbert and is supported by a grant from the Georgetown Cultural Council.

The class is open to anyone age 15 and older. It is recommended that you attend both classes. Call the library to register, 978-352-5728.

Georgetown Days Book Sale

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library are holding a book sale during Georgetown Days on Sunday, September 23, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the library meeting room.

The Friends are emptying out their storage room for this event: books of all kinds – cookbooks, romances, crafts, novels, how-to’s, and children’s books – will be available for sale.

A bag sale is scheduled for Monday, September 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Fill a bag and get a deal!

The proceeds from the book sale benefits library community programs, such as a book discussion group for teens and the purchase of passes to museums.

Book donations are still welcome up until Saturday, September 16.
