Salem, 1692: Season of the Witch

The Salem witch trials of 1692 is one of the most infamous, and least-understood, episodes in American history. Rory O’Brien, author of the novel Gallows Hill, lays out the story of what happened, separating fact from fiction.

Picture1Salem’s licensed tour guide Rory O’Brien, author of the recently published novel, Gallows Hill (as well as four previous books on Rhode Island history) will present this fascinating and seasonally topical program at the library on Mon., October 6 at 7:00 pm, as well as have copies of his novel available to purchase afterward.

The talk will run from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the library’s meeting room.

Wendy’s Journey on the Pacific Crest Trail

WendyFrom April to September of 2013, Wendy Johnston backpacked the entire 2,700 mile long Pacific Crest Trail from the US/Mexican Border to the US/Canadian border through California, Oregon, and Washington.

Join Wendy at the library on Tues., Sept. 30 at 6:30 pm for a slideshow of hike photos, as well as a short talk focusing on what she learned from her 5-month journey. It’s Wendy’s hope that you will leave inspired and encouraged to follow your own dreams!

The talk will run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the library’s Meeting Room.

Free and open to adults.

Yoga for Teens

Join Dale Sampson as she teaches poses, breathing practices, and some meditation techniques to help you maneuver the stresses in your life!

Sign ups are required for the yoga session.

Children’s Room Happenings

Summer reading is finally wrapping up.  The last day to pick up your prizes is Wednesday, September 10th.

Fall Story Time schedule is available.  Sign ups begin Tuesday, September 16.  Call or come into the library to sign up.
