Children’s Summer Programs Schedule

 Summer Reading Kick-Off Concert with Toe Jam Puppet Band
Wednesday, June 26 at 6:00
on the library lawn

The Toe Jam Puppet Band entertains with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old fun for all ages.

Bring a picnic and blanket to the library lawn.  If the weather is uncooperative, the program will be held inside the library.



for children entering 3rd grade and up unless otherwise noted.
Signups required. Signups begin June 25th. Please sign up by phone or at the library.
Signup for just one program or all.

7/1   Drum Circle  6:30-7:15
Come and embrace your inner percussionist.  No drumming experience is needed.  This program will be led by an instructor from Zach Field Drum Studio.

7/8    Origami    6:30-7:30
Learn the art of paper folding with Michael LaFosse

7/15   Cooking     6:30-8:00
Learn how to cook with Nina Hunt.

7/22   Storytelling Workshop 6:30- 8:00
Hear a story, tell a story. Martha Reed Johnson will share family stories and have participants share their own.

7/29   Fencing Demo 6:30-7:30*
Come and learn about the Olympic Sport of sword play.  Jack Mullarkey from 3MB fencing club will explain the sport and equipment.  Watch students demonstrate how it is done. *Recommended for children entering 1st and up

8/5    Scavenger Hunt   6:30-7:30
Follow the clues to explore the library and discover some of its hidden secrets

for all ages.
Drop in between10:30 – 12, unless otherwise noted.

7/2     Craft
Dig into a fun craft.

7/9     Craft
Dig into a fun craft.

7/16   New England Aquarium Tide Pool Touch Tanks    10:30 – 1:30
Drop in any time between 10:30 and 1:30.  Meet some creatures that live in the ocean.  Aquarium staff will be present to answer questions.
This program is funded by a grant from the Georgetown Cultural Council.

7/23   Bubble Day
How big of a bubble can you make?  Come to the library lawn and find out.  The program will be cancelled if it is raining.

7/30   Fairy House/Gnome Homes Craft
Build a home for the wee folk on the library lawn.

8/6     Summer Wrap-Up Adventure
-Vehicles from the town departments, fire trucks, police cars, and more.
-Scavenger hunt
-Train and Lego display created by Patrick Connolly

July 10 through August 7 at 6:00PM

Bring your own snacks, a pillow and blanket, and sit back to enjoy a movie on a large screen.
