Georgetown Newspaper Project

As part of a CPC grant, the library has been working on getting our newspapers scanned, digitized, and searchable. Here is the first installment of some of our newspapers. More will be added as they become available.

Currently, these newspapers cover:

The Georgetown Enterprise January 28, 1964-June 24, 1965

The Georgetown News December 6, 1962-March 30, 1966

The Georgetown Weekly April 20, 1966-December 30, 1971

You can look at each individual newspaper, or do a simple keyword search. Try searching for “snow storm” and see what you find!

Terry Crawford Palardy-Leap Day February 29

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library are hosting an evening with local author Terry Crawford Palardy on Wednesday, February 29 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Community Room of the Georgetown Peabody Library. Admission is free.

Palardy, a resident of Georgetown, is a writer, poet, and former teacher. She has written six books, including books on Georgetown history, living with multiple sclerosis, education, and poetry.

This program is part of an ongoing series of free events that the Friends of the Georgetown Library are offering to library patrons and community members.

Easy, Healthy Food for the Holidays

The Friends of the Georgetown Peabody Library are pleased to present a special program “Easy, Healthy Food for the Holidays” on Wednesday, November 16, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the library meeting room. Admission is free.

Speaker Elise Curley, R.D. is a registered dietitian who has a special interest in educating consumers about healthy and nutritious food that is also affordable and tasty. She will present ideas and tips on seasonal food choices, healthy takes on traditional seasonal foods, and quick and easy meal suggestions for the hectic holiday season.

Elise will be providing samples of some of the recipes she will be discussing. Handouts with information and recipes will also be provided.
