Founding Principles: American Governance in Action

April 26, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The League of Women Voters – Topsfield/Boxford/Middleton is sponsoring a presentation of selected videos from Bowdoin College’s “Founding Principles: American Governance in Action” series. Admission is free.

Discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation and will be facilitated by Richard Hastings, Georgetown High School Social Studies Department Chair. Hastings teaches World History, US History, and an advanced placement government course.

The Founding Principles series provides an introductory overview and basic understanding of American government, and was created to help build citizen-leaders, promote civic engagement, and work toward the common good. Three 15-minute videos will be presented on the evening of the 26th: “The Media”, “The Electoral Process”, and “Electoral Behavior and Voter Turnout”.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.
