DNA for Finding Family Members
October 4, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Did you know that DNA testing can reveal more than just your ethnicity? Local speaker, Peg Plummer, will present the basics of DNA, DNA testing, and how genealogists and other people interested in family history can use those test results to search for family.
Peg Plummer is a local genealogist and speaker who has an avid interest in DNA testing as an enhancement to traditional genealogical research. She has a BS in Nursing and a BA in the Humanities and was an instructor of Surgical Technology. She has attended the recent i4GG (Institute of Genetic Genealogy) and has a certificate in Advanced Genetic Genealogy from the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. Her brickwalls are her Irish ancestors and the folks who immigrated from England during the Industrial Revolution which is why she was prompted to try DNA testing to break those brickwalls. Her first DNA test was 16 Feb 2006 – Oxford Ancestors.
