Language Learning Databases
Interested in learning a new language? The Georgetown Peabody Library has two databases you can try out! You will need to input your library card number to access these databases at home.
Mango Languages is designed to equip you with conversational abilities from the very start. Whether you’re learning how to order a pizza or ask when the game starts, Mango immerses you in real, everyday conversations in a wide variety of foreign languages. It also features ESL instruction in English, tailored for speakers of more than a dozen languages.
Transparent Language Online is available for learning 100+ languages, plus English as a Second Language (ESL) materials for native speakers of 26+ languages, the program has something for everyone. Worried that you won’t be able to learn on your own? A customizable Learning Path allows you to choose what you want to learn, while an integrated analytics system tracks your progress, periodically prompting you to review material that you haven’t seen in a while. It’s like having a built-in teacher there to keep you on track toward your language-learning goals.
Find these databases and more at our Online Resources section! You can always find this section when you click the Services menu on our home page.
